THE COCOPEAT CONNECTION

Why the root zone matters

Bag and gutter layouts affect fruit contact as well as root-zone drainage.

01 / OBSERVE

Three checks before you change anything

  1. Identify where berries rest on wet film, media or standing drainage.
  2. Check whether truss supports create pressure points or tight bends.
  3. Review harvest access and removal of damaged fruit.

02 / NARROW IT DOWN

Where is contact occurring?

Choose the closest observation for a suggested next check.

Along the bag edge

Adjust an appropriate truss support so fruit hangs clear without pulling the crown.

Inside dense foliage

Review plant spacing and access with the crop team rather than removing leaves indiscriminately.

In pooled water

Correct the local pooling and assess affected fruit for deterioration.

03 / TAKE THE NEXT STEP

Leave with something useful

Inspect the layout again as berries gain weight, not only at flowering.

Keep in mind

Do not use rough supports that bruise fruit or constrict trusses.
