Feed & EC · WITH DRIP

Why test sodium and chloride separately from EC?

Conductivity indicates the overall dissolved-ion load, not the identity of every ion.

THE COCOPEAT CONNECTION

Why the root zone matters

Source-water sodium and chloride can continue entering coir even when the substrate starts with low EC.

01 / OBSERVE

Three checks before you change anything

  1. Review source water, fertiliser and recirculated-water contributions.
  2. Check laboratory units and sampling locations.
  3. Ask the adviser to interpret concentrations for the crop and irrigation strategy.

02 / NARROW IT DOWN

What information do you have?

Choose the closest observation for a suggested next check.

Only EC

Request ion analysis when assessing a suspected sodium or chloride issue.

Full analysis

Use the actual composition to review water suitability and management.

Different sources were sampled

Keep them separate until the final irrigation blend is measured.

03 / TAKE THE NEXT STEP

Leave with something useful

Track the incoming source and any drainage-reuse contribution together.

Keep in mind

A washed or buffered substrate is not a treatment system for unsuitable incoming water.
