Washing or buffering?
A low EC result and a buffering treatment answer different questions. Confirm both on the product specification before deciding how to prepare your cocopeat.

Start with the label and batch instructions. Preparation depends on the product’s treatment and your crop, rather than one universal soaking recipe.

Compressed cocopeat expands when hydrated. Expanded volume, water retention and handling vary with grade and moisture, so use the product-specific instructions.
01 / OBSERVE
02 / NARROW IT DOWN
Choose the closest observation for a suggested next check.
Follow its hydration directions, check even expansion and confirm the nutrient programme before planting.
Hydrate and prepare planting/drainage openings in the sequence specified for that product. Check the full length of the slab.
Ask for treatment and test details before use. Hydration alone does not establish salt suitability or buffering.
03 / TAKE THE NEXT STEP
Trial a representative unit and record water used, usable expansion and drainage before preparing the full batch.
Pure cocopeat is not a complete fertiliser. Do not assume the preparation used for a potting mix applies to a hydroponic slab.
