THE COCOPEAT CONNECTION

Why the root zone matters

The same coir extract can be reported on different numerical scales without being a different solution.

01 / OBSERVE

Three checks before you change anything

  1. Read the complete unit beside each result rather than copying only the number.
  2. Recognise that 1 mS/cm equals 1,000 µS/cm.
  3. Keep the extraction method and sample identity unchanged when making the unit comparison.

02 / NARROW IT DOWN

What is different?

Choose the closest observation for a suggested next check.

Only the EC unit

Convert the unit explicitly and retain the original reported value.

The extraction method also differs

Resolve the method difference separately; unit conversion does not make different extracts equivalent.

The report says ppm

Check whether it is a calculated meter scale or a laboratory concentration result.

03 / TAKE THE NEXT STEP

Leave with something useful

Write units into every spreadsheet column used for crop monitoring.

Keep in mind

Do not treat a unit conversion as a conversion between extraction ratios.
