THE COCOPEAT CONNECTION

Why the root zone matters

A pooled gutter sample may combine old drainage, cleaning residues and several coir bags.

01 / OBSERVE

Three checks before you change anything

  1. Use clean collection equipment and label the source.
  2. Record whether the sample is fresh bag drainage or mixed gutter water.
  3. Check storage time and laboratory handling instructions before analysis.

02 / NARROW IT DOWN

Where was it collected?

Choose the closest observation for a suggested next check.

Directly from a designated bag

Record timing and method so later samples are comparable.

From a shared gutter

Interpret it as mixed drainage, not an individual bag’s root-zone result.

From an old standing puddle

Recollect an appropriate fresh sample before making crop decisions.

03 / TAKE THE NEXT STEP

Leave with something useful

Choose the sample location before testing rather than after seeing an unusual number.

Keep in mind

Do not compare fresh feed with an unidentified old drainage sample as a precise input-output balance.
