How do I compare cocopeat particle-size reports?

Check the test procedure before comparing the percentage in each size fraction.

THE COCOPEAT CONNECTION

Why the root zone matters

Coir particles can be described by sieving or other methods, and preparation affects the reported distribution.

01 / OBSERVE

Three checks before you change anything

  1. Match sieve sizes, sample preparation and reporting basis.
  2. Check whether fibre and chips are included or assessed separately.
  3. Connect the measured distribution with handling and performance in a trial.

02 / NARROW IT DOWN

What differs between reports?

Choose the closest observation for a suggested next check.

Different sieve sets

Request comparable fractions or repeat testing using an agreed method.

Different preparation

Clarify whether samples were dried, hydrated or otherwise conditioned.

Same method, different distribution

Assess whether the difference exceeds the agreed grade tolerance and affects intended use.

03 / TAKE THE NEXT STEP

Leave with something useful

Keep the full distribution rather than reducing the report to one headline particle size.

Keep in mind

Do not infer exact water-holding capacity from a sieve result alone.
