THE COCOPEAT CONNECTION

Why the root zone matters

A reading immediately beside an emitter may describe a different condition from the rest of a coir slab.

01 / OBSERVE

Three checks before you change anything

  1. Map emitter positions, plants, drainage openings and exposure.
  2. Use the sensor supplier’s recommended orientation and sensing depth.
  3. Compare several candidate locations with manual observations before selecting control points.

02 / NARROW IT DOWN

What does one sensor represent?

Choose the closest observation for a suggested next check.

A typical crop area

Retain comparison observations elsewhere to detect developing variation.

The wettest or driest extreme

Use it as a warning point rather than assuming it represents the whole zone.

A changing crop layout

Review placement as roots and canopy develop.

03 / TAKE THE NEXT STEP

Leave with something useful

Document sensor positions so replacements are installed consistently.

Keep in mind

Moving a sensor without recording it can create a false trend in historical data.
