Roots & watering · WITH DIGBY

How many cocopeat bags can one irrigation zone supply?

Zone capacity depends on the complete hydraulic design and the crop layout.

THE COCOPEAT CONNECTION

Why the root zone matters

Adding coir bags increases total flow demand and can reduce delivery to an existing crop.

01 / OBSERVE

Three checks before you change anything

  1. List emitter flow specification and number of active outlets.
  2. Check available flow at the required operating pressure, including simultaneous equipment demand.
  3. Review pipe sizing, filters, injector operating range and the farthest delivery point.

02 / NARROW IT DOWN

What is changing?

Choose the closest observation for a suggested next check.

More bags on an existing zone

Ask the designer to recalculate demand and verify output at the far end.

A new crop with different emitters

Reassess the zone using the new outlet specification and irrigation programme.

No design information

Measure flow and pressure and obtain a system review before expanding.

03 / TAKE THE NEXT STEP

Leave with something useful

Document the approved maximum layout and test after adding plants.

Keep in mind

Do not calculate capacity from pump horsepower alone.
