How do I compare dripper output across a cocopeat crop?

A timed collection test separates delivery differences from differences in plant water use.

THE COCOPEAT CONNECTION

Why the root zone matters

Two coir bags on the same timer may receive different volumes when emitters, pressure or line conditions differ.

01 / OBSERVE

Three checks before you change anything

  1. Choose emitters near the start, middle and end of a representative irrigation zone.
  2. Collect during the same stable operating period using clearly labelled containers.
  3. Record individual volumes, duration and any emitters that stop or sputter; retain the low readings instead of averaging them away.

02 / NARROW IT DOWN

What does the collection show?

Choose the closest observation for a suggested next check.

Similar volumes

Compare root-zone moisture and crop demand next; the observed difference may be downstream of water delivery.

A few low emitters

Inspect those emitters and connections, then repeat the collection after approved maintenance.

A progressive decline along the row

Ask the irrigation technician to inspect pressure loss, line length and zone capacity.

03 / TAKE THE NEXT STEP

Leave with something useful

Keep the collection map so a later test uses the same locations and duration.

Keep in mind

Do not extend the entire zone run simply to compensate for a few blocked emitters.
