What should a cocopeat purchase specification include?

Turn a product name into a written agreement before comparing quotations. A specification gives both parties the same basis for acceptance.

THE COCOPEAT CONNECTION

Why the root zone matters

Cocopeat varies in treatment, physical grade, moisture and format; a weight or colour description cannot describe all of these.

01 / OBSERVE

Three checks before you change anything

  1. List the treatment, particle grade, intended format and expanded dimensions where relevant.
  2. State each test method, unit, sampling basis and acceptance limit rather than writing only “low EC”.
  3. Agree packing, quantity basis, traceability and how a nonconforming batch will be assessed.

02 / NARROW IT DOWN

What is missing from your enquiry?

Choose the closest observation for a suggested next check.

Only a product name

Write the crop-independent physical and chemical requirements before asking suppliers for like-for-like prices.

Numbers without methods

Request the laboratory method and sample basis associated with each claimed value.

Full technical specification

Ask the supplier to confirm every line and identify exceptions explicitly in its quotation.

03 / TAKE THE NEXT STEP

Leave with something useful

Save one approved specification version and attach it to the order and trial records.

Keep in mind

Do not assume a catalogue description automatically becomes the agreed order specification.
